I can’t believe we have an actual list of new beers that have come out since last month. I can set up an entire flight of new releases. Here you go.
Bard’s Ale: English Mild Ale
Oxymoron: Teutonic India Pale Lager (Collaboration brew with Terrapin Brewing)
Starksky and Scotch: Scotch Ale (Pro-Am submission for the GABF)
Twin Sisters: Double IPA

More Beer
As if 4 new releases weren’t enough, we are bringing back Real Ale Wednesday. Look for a 5 gallon pin of cask conditioned, unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped liquid happiness every Wednesday. Get here early, as these pins have been known to empty within an hour.

Great American Beer Festival…Even More Beer!
How did it happen? Didn’t the summer just start? I swear they are pushing that beer festival earlier and earlier every year. That’s right folks, its GABF season and that means GOOD TIMES for everyone. We have new beers, vintage beers, and fun events lined up for the week of September 13th to 19th. Here’s a tasting of what we’ll have on tap. Some of them are just individual kegs that will blow in only a few hours.

2009 Snowbound Winter Ale
2009 Widdershins Brandy Barrel Aged Barley Wine-Style Ale
2009 Fade to Black Export Stout
2010 Twin Sisters Double IPA
2010 Oktoberfest
2010 Starksy and Scotch
2010 Oxymoron India Pale Lager

Farmer’s Market at Left Hand Brewing
Have you been to our farmer’s market yet? Every Wednesday in the parking lot here at Left Hand, we have a great group of local musicians jamming for us and several local farmers selling their freshly harvested fruits and veggies. Thanks to Dew Farms, Guerrilla Farms, Frog Star Farms, and Bluegrass Bob and Friends for giving folks in Longmont a chance to drink, listen, and eat local. The market kicks off at 5pm.

Oktoberfest Party
Every year the Oktoberfest party at Left Hand is a guaranteed good time. We’ll have our seasonal favorite on tap, German food, great music, and maybe even some lederhosen and bundhosen. Join us as we bid “Auf Wiedersehen” to the last of our Oktoberfest brew. Prost!

Imbiber of the Month
This month I have the pleasure of honoring a guest that just makes the Left Hand Tasting Room a little bit more special. Angie Lox (aka Angelique & Queen) is a cool cat. She is funny, she has a great laugh, and the bar is a little warmer when she is there. Angie Lox hasn’t been a member for too long, but we love having her here. You can easily spot Angie Lox, as she will be the young lady holding a giant 25 ounce mug of beer…obviously. Our “Imbibers of the Month” drink out of that crazy King’s Cup all month long.

Indian Peaks Alers
If you’re reading this post, you’re probably a beer geek. You like beer a little more than your average Joe, and you may have even considered making your own brew. Well, we have a great club that has been meeting once a month at Left Hand for years now. The Indian Peaks Alers is Longmont’s Homebrew Club comprised of newbie homebrewers and nationally recognized, award winning homebrewers that talk, taste, judge, and teach beer the 2nd Wednesday of the month in our Tasting Room. Their next meeting is on September 8th. For information send an email to ipa.pres@gmail.com.

Dog Wash
Every summer we do a series of Dog Wash events that benefit the Longmont Humane Society. There’s brats and beer, soap and hoses, nail trims and micro-chipping. The proceeds go to a great cause and you get a clean pooch. Join us on Sunday, September 12th from 11am to 3pm for our next event.

Ales4FemAles
Twice a month the Left Hand Tasting Room hosts a beer club for women called Ales4FemAles. The meetings are focused on learning about beer, learning styles of beer, learning how to pair beer with food, and pretty much anything involving beer. Cinzia and Sue have been booked for almost every event in the last two years, so reach out to ales4females@gmail.com to get more info and to get on the list. The September meetings are on Monday, September 13th and Monday, September 20th.

Farmer’s Market at Left Hand Brewing
Left Hand Brewing is delighted to host Longmont’s only Wednesday Farmer’s Market. For those of us who work, or sleep, during traditional farmer's market hours, we now have local farmers, vendors, bakers, and musicians in our parking lot on Wednesday evenings from 5pm to 7pm. Local food, local music, and local beer… what's not to love? Look for the market to continue through the summer.

Imbiber of the Month
Our Imbiber of the Month is that one person who really brightened up Left Hand Tasting Room during the previous month. Often, the Imbiber of the Month visits the Tasting Room every single day during that month, and while that may not be the case this time around, when she is here, it's pretty special. This month, it was a treat to see Kathy Cowley's pretty face on a regular basis. If you haven't had the chance to meet Kathy, she's the one with the beautiful accent, and she'll be extra easy to spot in August as she'll be drinking all of her beers out of the mighty 25oz "King's Cup." It is such a pleasure having Kathy and her husband Mark and son Matt as part of our Left Hand family. Thank you, Kathy. Now come pose for a picture so we can get you up on the wall of fame!

Ales4FemAles
Left Hand Brewing has been hosting a wonderful event each month for years now. Every month Cinzia Wallace and Sue Smith-Troy bring in over 100 ladies in a club focused on beer education for women, by women. Each meeting the ladies rally to drink and learn about beer, pair beer with food, and spend time with other like-minded women. This month, the group will meet on Monday, August 2nd and Monday, August 16th to discuss pilsners. The events are always booked with a waitlist, and this month the RSVP process has changed slightly, so reach out to ales4females@gmail.com to get more info and to get on the invite mailing list.

Alright, who is it going to be this month? Our Imbiber of the Month is that person that showed special attention to the Left Hand Tasting Room during the previous month. Typically, the Imbiber of the Month visits the Tasting Room every single day during that month and we think that is pretty sweet. In order to thank them for their dedication, we put their photo on our wall of fame and offer them the 25oz mighty “King’s Cup” for the month. This month I get to send out a special “shot out” to not one, but two of our guests. Both Amy “Boudicca” and Greg H came in everyday during June. Amy is a returning champion whose husband said, “It’s a lot of work to support Amy during this month. I feel like I’m doing the work.” For Greg H, who received the coveted title for the first time, the month was extra easy for him, since his favorite beer, Black Jack Porter, was discounted all month. Thanks Amy and Greg. You both rock!

Imbiber of the Month
Every month we reach out and honor the guests that went above and beyond the call of duty during the previous month. This month I am pleased to bring attention to a returning recipient of our prized Imbiber of the Month title. Scott is not just our Imbiber of the Month, but he is part of a small group of folks that really call Left Hand home and we love them for it. He has a great group of friends and it is a genuine pleasure to serve him day in and day out. So, if you will. Raise your glass with me and cheers Mr. Scott Seymour. Prost!

Father’s Day Party
Last month we had a blast with chocolate pairings for Mother’s Day, and we sold out within a few hours. So, we thought we’d keep the party rolling for the Dads. We’re thanking the Dads this month by putting on tap our incredibly popular; never to be brewed again, Fade to Black Export Stout, just in time for Father’s Day on Sunday, June 20th. Just a heads up, when we put on the Fade to Black last month, it lasted about 3 hours.

Bike to Work Day
Left Hand is all about biking and being green and we dig it when our guests do their part. On Wednesday, June 23rd, we’re giving you a killer deal on your favorite beers, just for showing your bike helmet. Show us your bike shoes, helmet, or anything that proves you just biked to the brewery, and we’ll give you $2.50 pints for our Sawtooth, Jackman’s, Polestar, Haystack, and Blackjack.

Imbibers of the Month
Left Hand has an amazing group of regulars (almost 200) that help make the warm, welcoming, and relaxed vibe that is, The Tasting Room. Every member was invited; some have been members for over 10 years, while others just came on in January. That said, every month we like to bring to attention those guests that went above and beyond the call of duty over the last 30 days. This month it gives me great pleasure to welcome back a veteran, Mr. Paul T., and introduce a newbie, Ms. Laura. Paul has been Imbiber of the Month every year now, since I can remember and if I had to choose an Imbiber of the Year, he’d be on that short list. Thanks Paul. Laura is warm, genuine, and she truly makes Left Hand a little easier on the eyes. Sorry Paul! Her handsome son, Caleb, is a treat to have around, and we’re thrilled to have them both. So, raise your glass with me and help me in congratulating Paul and Laura for earning the distinguishing title of Imbiber of the Month. Cheers!

Teacher Appreciation Day
Every year we like to thank those beautiful people that work so hard and often get over looked. We’re celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day on Friday, May 7th with buy 1 get 1 beers for those responsible for making Longmont a little brighter. We’d also like to extend our gratitude and drink specials toward secretaries, assistants, coaches, janitors, and anyone else that helps make education happen.

Mother’s Day with Chocolate and Beer
There are two extra yummy days at Left Hand Brewing each year. Every Mother’s Day and Valentine’s Day, Vanessa of Desiderio Chocolates, here in Longmont, shares her elegant, decadent, and incredibly beautiful pieces of chocolate love with us. Alas, Sunday, May 9th is Mother’s Day and we’ll be pairing 3 of her chocolates with 3 tasters of our beers. Get here early, as we typically sell out in the first few hours.

400 Pound Monkey Pair and Share
Every few months we like to test the culinary skills of our guests with a beer and food pairing competition that we call a Pair and Share. The beer rotates each time and this time it will be our 400 Pound Monkey IPA. All you have to do is think of and create a thoughtful dish that pairs particularly well with our 400 Pound Monkey IPA, bring enough to share with at least 10 people, submit it to our panel of judges at 6pm, then standby for the award ceremony. First, second, and third place take home beer, but everyone has fun. See you with your delicious grub on Thursday, May 13th.

Ales4FemAles
Left Hand Brewing has been hosting a beautiful event every month for years now. Every month Cinzia Wallace and Sue Smith-Troy bring in over 100 ladies in a club focused on beer education for women, by women. Every meeting the ladies learn about beer, drink beer, pair beer with food, and spend time with other like-minded ladies. This month, the ladies will meet on Monday, May 3rd and Monday, May 17th. The events are always booked with a waitlist, so reach out to ales4females@gmail.com to get more info and to get on the list.

Imbibers of the Month
Here at the Left Hand Tasting Room, we have an incredible group of regulars that become extensions of our family. We see these folks frequently, sometimes more than our own spouses, and they have played a big role in making Left Hand what it is today. Every month we like to mention those guests that went above the call of duty and visited us darn near every day during the last month. This month I’m thrilled to give a shout out to two returning Imbibers of the Month. Tom “Crash” and Martin “Henge” have been family here for several years. Henge is crazy smart and is known to blow your mind without any notice. Crash knows everybody and is always good for a laugh. You both rock. So, raise your glass with me as I honor Henge and Crash. Cheers!

Rocky Mountain Rollergirls
We’re on the third of eight bus trips down to the Rocky Mountain Rollergirls. The first three have sold out and they’re freakin crazy. Beer, roller derby, and a safe bus ride down and back, it was awesome! April’s bus trip is already SOLD OUT, but you can still sign up for the May 1st event. $27 guarantees you a night of fun, laughs, and great beer. Get your tix at http://www.rockymountainrollergirls.com/.

Repeal of Prohibition Party
Wednesday, April 7th is the 77th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition. Technically, President Roosevelt was just authorizing the sale of 3.2% beer and wine. So, for our party, we’re selling only 3.2% beer. Hah! Actually, we’re going to tap our 2nd of 3 casks of Chainsaw Double ESB. The cask will be tapped when we open at 3pm. You better get it before it’s gone.

Ski Jam at Mary Jane
It’s that time of year when we load up the van with kegs of beer, barbeques, couches, music, and of course our skis. Left Hand has hosted a Ski Jam for the last 2 years and we’re rolling out our 3rd on Sunday, April 18th at Mary Jane. Bring your sunscreen, shades, and camp chairs as we close out Mary Jane on their last day of the season. For more info contact Josh at Goldberg@lefthandbrewing.com.

Dinner at Jack’s Corner Café
Every few months we like to get away from behind the bar and sit down with our favorite guests for dinner. A brand new restaurant has opened up in town and we’re going to check it out. Jack’s Corner Café opened up on Airport/Nelson, and the crew from the Tasting Room are heading over there on Thursday, April 29th. They have a few Left Hand brews on tap, great tapas and burgers, and a fun vibe. Dinner is at 6:30pm and we only have 40 seats. To get on the list, contact Josh at Goldberg@lefthandbrewing.com.

Ales4FemAles
If you haven’t heard about the Ales4FemAles beer club for women by now, I don’t know where you’ve been. Left Hand hosts this group of ladies twice a month since it is so popular. The ladies discuss beer, learn about beer, pair beer with food, and just have a good time among fellow female beer lovers. In April, they’re meeting at 6:30pm on Monday the 5th and Monday the 19th. For info on topics or how to get on the list, send an email to ales4females@gmail.com.

Indian Peaks Alers
Are you thinkin’ about homebrewing? Are you an award winning homebrewer? Either way, Longmont’s very own homebrew club, the Indian Peaks Alers, meet at Left Hand every month and share their brews, judge their brews, and focus on a specific style of brews. They’ll meet Wednesday, April 14th at 6pm. There is food, beer, and great people. For more info, contact Kari at ipa.pres@gmail.com.

St. Paddy’s Day Party
St. Paddy’s Day is always crazy at Left Hand. Mostly, the craziness is centered around our very own brew team. Every year they pull out their guitars (sometimes a tuba), plug in, drink a few pints, and serenade us with classic Irish drinking songs. I’m not making any promises, but I can vouch that pants have been lost during a St. Paddy’s Day party at Left Hand. We’ll have our Colorado wet-hopped Warrior IPA on tap. See you Wednesday, March 17th at 5pm.

International Women’s Day
It’s not often enough that women get a special day, just for them, where they toast themselves and pay tribute to their sisterhood of drinkers. Left Hand is proud to host our female guests every day, but Monday, March 8th is a little extra special. In honor of International Women’s Day, Left Hand will be offering $1 off all pints, all day, for all the ladies joining us on the 8th. Cheers!

Imbiber of the Month
Every month we like to pay tribute to the guest that showed a little extra dedication to Left Hand during the previous month. Normally, this person makes a special presence in the Tasting Room by coming in everyday for a full month. This time it’s even more special for us. During the month of February, we had not 1, but 2 of our favorite guests join us in the Tasting Room every single day. Not rain, sleet, snow, or wind could stop the determination of Mr. Beasley and Mrs. Mama. They certainly proved their dedication and loyalty to Left Hand, and we love them for it. It’s a pleasure to have them in our family. Beasley and Mama will be easy to spot this month, just look for the mighty “King’s Cup.” They’ll be drinking out of this beautiful 25oz mug all month long.

Ales4FemAles
If you haven’t heard about the Ales4FemAles beer club for women by now, I don’t know where you’ve been. Left Hand hosts this group of ladies every month while they discuss beer, learn about beer, pair beer with food, and just have a good time among fellow female beer lovers. It’s been a crazy success and Cinzia and Sue are now hosting it twice a month as a result. In March, they’re meeting on Monday the 1st and Monday the 15th.

They’ll meet Wednesday, March 10th at 6pm. There is food, beer, and great people. For more info, contact Don Blake at ipa.pres@gmail.com.

Roller Derby vs. Left Hand Brewing

Valentine’s Day with Desiderio Chocolates
I know what your sweetie is thinking. What could be more romantic than spending Valentine’s Day at a brewery? Well, we’re making it special. We’ve paired up with Vanessa of Desiderio Chocolates, who makes some of the most delicious and beautiful chocolates around, for a decadent pairing of her truffles with our beers. We’ll offer 3 beers with 3 chocolates for $6. I’m partial to the imperial stout paired with Vanessa’s imperial stout truffle.

Mardi Gras!!
Oohh yeah. It’s that time of year. Mardi Gras is always a blast in the Tasting Room and this time it’s going to be even better. We’ve got Lucile’s real-deal, authentic Creole food, live music, costumes, and great beer. Join us for a rockin good time at 5pm on Tuesday, February 16th.

Imbiber of the Month
January is a fun time in the Tasting Room. Existing members have renewed and new ones have been invited. We’re pretty passionate about our beer club family and I’m thrilled to have this newbie on board. The beautiful Miss Myke really started coming in within the last year, but she makes a great impression. She’s hard to miss. Her big smile can be found in our Tasting Room most nights and she’s friends with everyone. She offers to help with our big events and she represents what I love about our beer club. Let’s raise our glass for Miss Myke and watch her struggle to lift her mighty King’s Cup. Cheers to Miss Myke, our Imbiber of the Month.

Left Hand for Haiti

In light of recent events, Left Hand Brewing Company is hosting a fundraiser to raise money for the victims in Haiti.  "Left Hand for Haiti" will be hosted at the Left Hand Tasting Room on Thursday, January 21st from 5pm to 8pm.  We'll have a live band, food donated, a silent auction, proceeds from beers purchased, and a representative from the local non-profit, "Colorado Haiti Project.”

All donations, earnings from the silent auction, tips for the band, and $1/pint sold will go directly to the Louisville based Colorado Haiti Project, that has provided aid in Haiti for over 20 years.  Donations include authentic Haitian artwork and crafts, local handmade quilts and paintings, gift certificates for Longmont businesses, Left Hand Brewing beer and merchandise, and a “Brew Day at Left Hand Brewing.”  The Colorado Haiti Project is a state-wide non-profit organization founded in 1989 to extend aid to the poorest of the poor in a rural area called Petit Trou de Nippes, about 80 miles west of Port-au-Prince. CHP is supported entirely by donations from private individuals, foundations, and over 40 Episcopal churches in Colorado.

Thanks to Forrest Fleming of Instant Imprints, Mark Whan of Colorado Haiti Project, and local musician, Tom Cornwell for their efforts with this event.

About The Colorado Haiti Project

The Colorado Haiti Project is a Colorado-based not for profit organization that runs a school with approximately 500 students, a normal school for 130 teachers in training, a women’s center training local participants in trade skills for market products, an extensive network of women health volunteers working on maternal health and reduction of infant mortality, and a recently installed system of wells throughout the region maintained and repaired by local teams who have been trained to perform these tasks.  It conducts annual medical, education and more frequent insight missions, and is involved in environmental development.  www.coloradohaitiproject.

Imbibers of the Year Party
Every month I select an Imbiber of the Month, someone who showed a little extra dedication to the Left Hand Tasting Room during the month. Once crowned Imbiber of the Month, these special few enjoy their beer for the entire month out of the mighty King’s Cup. For the first time ever, we are hosting a special party in honor of our Imbibers of the Month from 2009. Join us on Tuesday, January 12th for some special releases. We’ve got Warrior IPA, the Pro-Am Brown, and Smokejumper Imperial Smoked Porter lined up for the bash. Imbibers get one of each on the house, and everyone else should thank them for the opportunity. Cheers!

Imbiber of the Month
Now that you know how I choose them, let me bring to your attention a very special guest of ours here at Left Hand. He’s hard to miss, he’s freakin hilarious, he has a beautiful wife named Dewey, and he dressed up as Santa Claus with a Jamaican identity crisis while doing the dishes for us! That’s right. Patrizio Il Magnifico has been a member at Left Hand for several years now, though under the guise of Big Paddy until recently. Patrizio doesn’t get in everyday, but he certainly is a blast to have around. Get him a cigar or buy him a pint of Polestar Pilsner, or 400 Pound Monkey, or Warrior IPA, or anything else for that matter. We love ya Mr. Magnifico. Salute!

Widdershins Pair and Share
It’s that time of year when we stay inside a little more, cook a little more, and maybe even drink a little more. Why don’t you cook a little more and win free beer for it? It’s time for our Pair and Share. Here’s the deal. Create a dish that either pairs particularly well with our Widdershins Barleywine- Style Ale or incorporates the Widdershins in the recipe, bring enough for 10 servings on Wednesday, January 20th by 6pm, wait patiently during judging, then take home free beer for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Yum! I’m hungry already.

Robert Burns Night
If one thing can be said about the Left Hand crowd, they can never get enough of the drinkin, the gluttony, the chasin’ the women, and singing songs. Come join us as part of the world-wide celebration of the Scottish icon- Robert Burns. We’ll have a grand plate o’ haggis, fine cask conditioned ale, world class Scottish entertainment, the skirl of the pipes and men dressed in skirts. The party starts at 6pm on Monday, January 25th.

Dinner at Tortuga’s
Back by popular demand! Let’s grab a bite, drink a few pints, and share a few laughs. Thanks to Tortuga’s for opening their doors to a whole lot of trouble. Join me and my wife Wendy, Cinzia and Eric Wallace, along with 36 other great folks for dinner at Longmont’s very own Tortuga’s Restaurant. There is space for 40. You have to be on the list. Yes, you have to pay for your tab, but Left Hand beers are discounted to $2.50 all night. There will be trivia, prizes, toasts, and did I mention Mahi Mahi Vera Cruz, pan-seared grouper, and macadamia encrusted chicken? Dinner starts at 6:30pm on Wednesday, January 27th. To get on the list, come in for a pint or email at goldberg@lefthandbrewing.com.
