10th Anniversary of the Day our Lives Changed Forever 9/11/01

.

Today we will all be thinking about where we were and what we were doing 10 years ago when our lives changed forever. From that point on, it would always be before 9/11 or the attack and after 9/11 or the attack. Things would never be the same: security, travel, life in general....

I had just started a new job the day before and didn't know anyone that I worked with, but instantly became

Why I Did Not Vote

My reasons for not voting in the election, and probably for future elections include the similarity of the two candidates, my unwillingness to consent to government violation of my natural rights, and the fact that democracy does not make sense.Expanding the government whether for social programs or security violates individuals natural rights. Social programs relies on government robbery of

{Image Courtesy: pbs.org}
I originally posted this on 6/6/10, but felt it was important enough to repost it today. Please keep in mind those who fight every day for our freedoms and for the families who have lost loved ones in the continued battles all over the world. God bless our country and our troops!

Today is the anniversary of the Allies invasion of France on June 6, 1944 which was a

Armed Forces Day ~ May 21st

.It was President Harry S. Truman who wanted to set aside a single day for all Americans to come together to thank the members of the military for their service and sacrifice in support of our glorious country.

So, on August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day stemming from the unification of the Armed Forces under one department ~ the

Shake Hands With a Hero

.

I just saw this on my friend Noelle's blog. Now if you know me, you know that I do whatever I can to help support our troops. This is something super easy that we can all do to show love to our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen.

Please head over to Noelle blog to see what you can do, it's so easy, that I expect all of you would be willing to do it:

Tribute to the Navy Seals

.

As I am sure you have all heard by now... our troops have killed the evil incarnate Osama bin Laden - HooRah!!  I would like to take this opportunity to give credit to the amazing small contingent of the Navy's elite SEAL Team Six under the command of CIA Director Leon Panetta.

According to officials, no Americans were injured. =)  Senior administration officials will only say that bin

WHAT PILOTS SEE WHEN LANDING AT OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE

.

This is just south of us on Hwy 75 south. A farmer named Chris Shotton does it with his tractor and not sure if he uses a plow or a disc. He uses GPS to get the letters readable. He has done this every fall for several years now.

Here's the view from the flight pattern into OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE (Bellevue, NE., just south of Omaha). This is what our servicemen see when landing at Offutt AFB.

Blankets of Hope for Wounded Warriors

.

My friend Noelle of Jumpin Beans told me about this sewing program started by the Soldiers Angels, a volunteer-led, nonprofit providing aid and comfort to the men and women of the United States Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and their families, their motto: "May No Soldier Go Unloved."

Now I cannot sew at all, but if you can or if you know of someone who can, please see if there

HAPPY HALLOWEEN ~~~ Booooo

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
May you all have a wonderful Halloween with the ones you love... with lots of laughter and friendship. Be safe and if you have any candy left over, please consider The Halloween Candy Buy Back Program.  This program has dentists all over the country collect extra Halloween candy and give it to Operation Gratitude (one of my favorite organizations), who then sends the candy

Bloggy Friends are the Best

I have mentioned in the past that one of the things that I love the most about social networking is meeting people and becoming friends - real friends.  Distance and the fact that you have never actually met face to face doesn't make a difference when it comes to friendship in my book (or should I say laptop).

One of the people who I have met through blogging is Noelle of Jumpin-Beans and she

Memorial Day 2010 in Celebration, Florida

On Monday, May 31st our little community of Celebration had our Memorial Day festivities at Founders Park at the Veteran's Memorial. It was a wonderful celebration of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. There were veterans of all wars represented and families with members of all ages, decked out in their patriotic glory. All species were represented, also. After the

Memorial Day 2010

On this day of remembrance, please keep in mind the families of those who have lost loved ones doing the something that they felt was their duty - something I truly appreciate, the protecting of our country. Also, please think of those still serving both here and abroad. Remember, Freedom isn't Free! God bless America! Thank you to all of my wonderful readers who are there for me during my son

Maxine Weighs In.....

We need to show more sympathy for these people. * They travel miles in the heat.* They risk their lives crossing a border.* They don't get paid enough wages.* They do jobs that others won't do or are afraid to do.* They live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language.* They rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day ~ every day. I'm not talking about
