Happy 20th Birthday to my Baby, Alexander & Belated 23rd to Nikolaus

.

Today I want to wish my baby boy Alexander a very happy 20th birthday... I just can't believe it has been that long since I held my "little" 9 lb. 10 oz. baby boy in my arms... Yep, I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy and he was a big baby... I'm still trying to lose those last 30 lbs of baby weight.  :-)

Boy do they grow up so fast:

Not-So-Wordless Wednesday: Nikolaus & Alexander Spend Christmas Together

.
WORDLESS

I shipped Nikolaus and Alexander some Christmas gifts including their stockings that used to hang in our house when they were little. Of course I included things that I also included in the stockings that I used to include when they were little.  The two boys spent the night together having a great time opening their gifts, eating the cookies I baked for them and even sent me this

Cartoon of the Day - The Best Part of Being a Mom

This was always my favorite part of having kids, now it's my favorite part of having the puppies.

Don't forget to take some time out today from whatever you are doing each day to spend a little fun time with the kids. Take it from me, they grow up WAY too fast.

Happy 10/10/10

{Image Credit}
I realized yesterday that today's date would be 10/10/10 and at 10:00 this morning it would be 10/10/10 10:00... pretty cool, huh?  I'm sure there are lots of people out there that figured that out LONG ago, but I'm a little slow on the uptake (blame it on my pain meds).

So, in honor of today, I thought I'd list 10 of my favorite things and ask you my dear friends to list them in

Cartoon of the Day - Dad School

This cartoon reminded me of the old proverb: "Anyone can be a father, but it takes a real man to be a DAD."

Even though Bill is Nikolaus and Alexander's step-father, he has always been a "dad" to them and they have always appreciated everything he has done for them and they really love him and consider him their dad.

So we dedicate this cartoon to him...

Nikolaus on R & R in Connecticut

My son Nikolaus was able to go home from Afghanistan for two weeks on R & R a couple of weeks ago.  Because his unit is based out of Connecticut, that is where they flew him back to and he didn't have enough time or money to come down here to Florida to see us, but that was OK, I was able to talk to him and text back & forth a lot.  There was also a going away party for my niece who is moving to

An Update from Afghanistan with Photos

I got a message from Nikolaus on Facebook the other day thanking me for some care packages I sent him along with some photos of him and his buddies in Afghanistan, so I wanted to share them with you all.
This first one is of him and his unit, they are doing pretty well after losing one of their guys, but all the support they receive from home - along with all of you - has kept them strong.  So

Happy Father's Day

You could call Sonora Smart Dodd the "Mother of Father's Day." After all, the holiday, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, was inspired by her.

Dodd's mother died in 1898 during childbirth, leaving her father, William Jackson Smart, to raise Dodd and her five younger brothers (including the newborn baby) on a remote farm near Spokane, Wash. While attending a Mother's Day sermon in

Memorial Day 2010

On this day of remembrance, please keep in mind the families of those who have lost loved ones doing the something that they felt was their duty - something I truly appreciate, the protecting of our country. Also, please think of those still serving both here and abroad. Remember, Freedom isn't Free! God bless America! Thank you to all of my wonderful readers who are there for me during my son
