Will Smith To Take A "Fantastic Voyage"
Will Smith is reportedly meeting with director Shawn Levy ("Night at the Museum," "Real Steel") in the next few weeks to discuss the "I, Robot" star potentially top lining the "Fantastic Voyage" remake at 20th Century Fox says The Hollywood Reporter.
The cult 1966 sci-fi classic revolves around a team of scientists who are shrunk to atomic size and om a miniature submarine are injected inside the body of a scientist to save his life. "The Bourne Ultimatum" director Paul Greengrass was previously linked to helm until Levy became attached back in February.
Since then however finding a cast for the film has proven tough, despite James Cameron involvement as producer. If Levy can convince Smith to sign on, he will likely stay with the project and Fox would have no issue paying for one of the few A-list stars left that's a guaranteed box-office drawn.
If Smith passes, Levy could well move on to other projects such as Fox's "Frankenstein" and Disney's "Maleficent".
