Conan 2 planned, Jason Momoa has penned story

Conan The Barbarian returns to the big screen, in the guise of Jason Momoa, in the next few weeks. And Conan 2, possibly with a story by Momoa, is very much on the cards…



Arriving in a couple of weeks’ time is the final blockbuster of the summer, Conan The Barbarian. Directed by Marcus Nispel and starring Jason Momoa, the thinking presumably is that Lionsgate can repeat the success it enjoyed with The Expendables in a similar release slot last year.



Certainly the wheels are already turning for a follow-up for Conan. Chatting to Crave Online, lead actor Jason Momoa firstly confirmed that he was on board for a second film, and then chatted about which direction he was looking to go with it.



“I am signed up for a sequel as along as people go out and watch [the first film]”, he said.



And when questioned as to whether there was a story in mind for a sequel, he replied, saying “I wrote it … so we’re waiting to see if they’ll accept it”.



Momoa also confirmed it’d be mostly an original story for Conan 2. “It's character-adapted, because I really want to get into more of the mythical creatures, you know?”



Should the first film prove to be a success, we suspect we'll be hearing more about Momoa's thinking for a sequel. In the meantime, Conan The Barbarian is released on 24th August in the UK.
